Global warming, a phenomenon which has been taking place from long time due to the burning of fossil fuels and the use of non renewable resources like coal, natural gas, petroleum, crude oil, etc. Our planet earth is getting hotter due to an increase due to the increase of carbon dioxide.
This article tries to gather some information how industrial revolution and the use of harmful fossil fuels has affected our environment.
Industrial Revolution and the use of fossil fuels.
It all started with the Industrial revolution which took off in 16th century that witnessed the invention of Steam locomotives, quintessential machines, etc. But over the centuries, as technology improved that eventually led to the invention of machines which uses of fossil fuels like petroleum, coal and natural gas. The combustion of these fossil fuels results in the release of harmful gases like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, etc. into the environment. These poisonous gases have a severe impact on the climate and the environment of our planet. It also affects our health negatively.
Find more information from a book “The Climate Casino” written by a well known economist William Nordhaus. The book best explains how the global-warming affect the climate. He also offers a new analysis of why earlier policies failed, how the new approaches can succeed. In short, he clarifies a defining problem of our times and lays out the next critical steps for slowing the trajectory of global warming. You can also find many books on www.energybookshelf.comOil & Gas, energy policy, renewable energy, nuclear energy, coal, climate change, etc.
Humans are the main reason for increasing global-warming and climate change
Humans are largely responsible for global- warming and its adverse effects on the climate. Burning of fossil fuels causes harmful greenhouse gases to build in the atmosphere. As these greenhouse gases get collected in the atmosphere, more heat get collected. Fossil fuels like oil, coal are rich in carbon and, when burned, produce large amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide). Burning 1 gallon of gasoline, releases 20-22 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Global warming can have adverse effects on our climate and our lives too. This affects our water supplies, agriculture, power and transportation systems, environment, and even our own health and safety.
Its all in our hands to bring a healthy change.
We can take steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and there by avoid the climate change. We can also join our hands by supporting energy efficiency or other climate programs.
