Run Windows XP and Office 2003 safely - indefinitely.
Microsoft ceased support for Windows XP on 8th April 2014, yet millions still use and love it. If you wish to continue to use it and surf the internet without vulnerability to attack, this is the way to do it.
The only program that needs to be run in a sandbox (virtual machine) is your browser.
Comodo supply two browsers which can do this:
Comodo Dragon, which is a security enhanced version of Chromium, and,
Comodo Ice Dragon, which is a security enhanced version of Firefox.
Both these browsers can be run in virtual mode if you download the free version of Comodo Internet Security, which provides both anti-virus and a firewall.
Download Comodo Dragon ( a secure version of Chrome)
Download Comodo Ice Dragon (a secure version of Firefox).
Download Comodo Internet Security (Free version)
Click on the Dragon Icon in the top left of the window -> Switch to Virtual Mode
Open Ice Dragon
(toolbar)Tools -> Start Virtual Mode.
The browser then runs is a sandbox, so there is no direct connection to your computer. You can download files, into an isolated folder, but malware check them before importing them into your file system.
Works like a dream. I'm using Dragon. It runs BBC iplayer etc in virtual mode. Excellent.
